Counsel on appropriate technique
- Invert the vial a few times to obtain a uniform, white emulsion before using.2,3
For RESTASIS MultiDose®: Prime by squeezing two drops onto a tissue before initial use. See the Full Prescribing Information for further instructions on how to prepare for first-time use. For subsequent use, turn the bottle upside down a few times before giving your dose to make sure the medicine is mixed well.3 - Instill one drop twice a day in each eye, approximately 12 hours apart.2,3 Discard vial immediately after use.2
For RESTASIS MultiDose®: After use, recap the bottle with the olive-green colored protective cap by pushing it straight down onto the bottle.3 - Advise patients to avoid allowing the tip of the container to touch the eye or any surface to avoid contamination and potential injury to the eye.2,3
Contact Lens users
RESTASIS® and RESTASIS MultiDose® should not be administered while wearing contact lenses.2,3 Patients with decreased tear production typically should not wear contact lenses.2,3 Advise patients that if contact lenses are worn, they should be removed prior to the administration of the emulsion.2,3 Lenses may be reinserted 15 minutes following administration of RESTASIS® and RESTASIS MultiDose® ophthalmic emulsion.2,3
